The Reverse Side of Statue of Liberty

Despite the loud headline this post just about a place that is behind all the famous Statue of Liberty. About statue know everything, but that's about what lies behind it are not many who came to New York. Despite the proximity to Manhattan, the place is surprisingly deprived of attention from local residents, tourists and photographers.

The people there certainly is, but the amount is not comparable with the crowds that can be found in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Therefore, the pictures out a little, and some of the angles we had never seen before. Even those who get there, rarely go to the park trails, but if deflected to the side, you'll find quite unusual species on a long-familiar object.

Train station Central Railroad of New Jersey dating from 1889. Once passengers trains from Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and other cities we reach that shore of the Hudson, and transplanted to the ferry to Manhattan. In 1967, the traffic scheme changed and the station was abandoned. The building was restored, and the platform is still in ruins. At last my visit I noticed the station area with wooden flooring pigs. After the hurricane they were replaced on the tile.

Bright against the dark Manhattan - is Ellis Island, which was once the largest point of the immigrants in the United States. From 1892 to 1954 12 million people passed through its walls. About 240 000 of them were refused and were forced to return home. Now the island is a museum of immigration.
